Stuart asked folk to share his post freely so that a wider audience could be reached to give deserved recognition to Ana Carrasco who is “The first woman in the 100-years-plus history of the sport to lead a motorcycle road racing world championship. Kramer Evo2: Story Behind The Bike
Racing - A feature in the British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) members’ magazine “Motorcycle Rider” tells the story behind the Kramer Evo2 race bike drew my attention with the mention of Road Racing and the struggle of one rider to keep an amateur road race career going. The mention of Road Racing always makes my ears prick up. Stating from an early age as a spectator with my parents on the railway embankment at Metropole at the North West 200, trudging over muddy fields to get a good vantage point (why did it always seem to rain at Dundrod?) to weeks at the Isle Of … [Read more...]
The Hump
While wandering around the internet, Facebook to be exact, we came across a question on the Moto Riders Universe group page, (a group that has nearly 150,000 members), which was, “What is the hump for on a motorcycle jacket? I'm looking all over forums everywhere and some people are saying it's for aerodynamics or protection, while some say both and others say it barely effects either.” While most replies indicated that the hump was an aerodynamic “feature” first mainly used by riders that race in high speed competition, a few suggested that they were a safety feature, … [Read more...]

Northern Ireland - While the political system in Northern Ireland has gone into "meltdown" over a Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) scheme of woodchip boilers - "Cash For Ash" - along with other political angst, the current Sports Minister Paul Givan has announced the establishment of a Motorsport Taskforce. With an election called to re-elect MLAs (Member of Legislative Assembly) to the Northern Ireland Assembly on the 2nd March 2017, Mr Givan announced the task force yesterday - 24th January. MOTO GP – Wings
MOTO GP - Innovation is the mother of invention for motorcycles, where innovation on the race track will most times make it onto our road bikes. For those whose motorcycling mixes support for racing, who will know what we are taking about, the Grand Prix Commission has decided that, "with effect from the 2017, the use of aerodynamic wings in the MotoGP class will be banned. Wings that comply with current technical regulations may continue to be used for the remainder of the 2016 season." The amended FIM Regulations state, "It is not permitted to add any device or shape to … [Read more...]
