A Fresher 2020 – De-Modifying Emissions
ACEM - European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers – ACEM reported recently that as of the 1st January 2020, (just past) all new type-approved motorcycles and mopeds sold in the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Area (EFTA) will have to meet a new Euro 5 environmental standard, this will replace the current Euro 4 specification. “Sidecarists” – One of the means of motorcycle transport we have sampled over the years was the joy of a motorcycle and side car – chair - combination outfit, when we became sidecarists along with our “normal” two wheels or should that be, we became in addition to travelling on two wheels, “normal” sidecarists. MCIA – ULEZ – Seeking Exemption
As we recently previously reported today - Monday 8th April 2019 - sees the introduction of the London Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) in central London. London – Critical Measure For ULEZ Exemption
London – The ULEZ – Ultra Low Emission Zone - comes into effect in central London, the same area as the current Congestion Charge on Monday 8th April 2019. This will see riders and drivers having to pay a daily charge of £12.50 for motorcycles and other vehicles within this ULEZ emission zone. The basics of this charge is that if a vehicle does not meet a certain level of “friendly” cleaner emissions then they have to pay this charge. FIM – Thailand – ABS – Brakes
Thailand – The FIM - Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme on their visit to the TTK Asia test facility says that a Combined Brake System (CBS) for small motorcycles is not good enough compared to ABS (Antilock Braking System) in an emergency stop. FIM said this after the TTK ASIA Test facility was visited on the 18th December 2018 by FIM Asia President Stefan Carapiet, FIM Director of Public Affairs John Chatterton-Ross, and Thongchai Wongsawan, President of FMSCT (Federation of Motor Sport Clubs if Thailand) Thailand.
