Euro Decrease In Registrations

Europe - ACEM, the European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers in its latest statistical report on the combined motorcycle and moped registration in Europe says, registrations during the first quarter of 2017 have decreased compared to same quarter of the previous year. The combined registrations of motorcycles and mopeds in the EU reached 254,487 units during the Q1 2017, representing a decrease of 3.3% compared to same quarter of the previous year. BMF Technical Notice: Tyre Safety

United Kingdom - British Motorcyclists Federation (BMF) - The BMF has just released a technical notice regarding tyre safety, the notice is reproduced in full below. During 2016, the BMF were made aware of a number of instances of unusual & unexplained tyre deflations. The matter was bought to our attention by a BMF affiliated owner's club. The tyres were manufactured by a corporate member of the BMF, Avon Tyres. The problem affected the Road Rider range of Tubed/Tubeless fitment tyres. Europe - ACEM (L'Association des Constructeurs Européens de Motos) represents the manufacturers of mopeds, motorcycles, three-wheelers and quadricycles (L-category vehicles) in Europe. Europe - The Federation Of European Motorcyclists' Associations (FEMA) reports that it has had talks with the European Commission about motorcyclists’ safety. The organisation states that Wim Taal and Dolf Willigers visited Fotini Ioannidou, the newly appointed Head of Unit Road Safety of DG MOVE. FEMA explains that, "DG MOVE is the Directorate General of the European Commission responsible for EU policy on mobility and transport." Effects of Advanced (Anti-lock) Braking Systems (ABS) On Motorcycle Crashes - A Survey of 61 motorcyclists who crashed between 2010 and 2015 An online survey was carried out in 2016 focussing on motorcyclists who had crashed while riding a motorcycle fitted with Advanced (anti-lock) Braking Systems (ABS). Great Britain - The UK Government is seeking views on proposals for extending the date of a vehicle’s first road worthiness test, known as the MoT (Ministry of Transport) test date from 3 to 4 years for cars, motorcycles and vans through an open consultation in Great Britain.
