United States – Global – The American Motorcyclists Association (AMA) is asking, “What’s the beef with motorcycles?” as they report that a US federal agency are attempting to tack a 100 percent or higher tariff on motorcycles made in Europe – along with other products - as part of a trade battle over hormones in U.S. beef. Naturally the American Motorcyclist Association opposes the proposed tariff, “Because trade disputes residing within the boundaries of the agricultural industry should not be solved with trade sanctions levied against non-agricultural … [Read more...]
The Vnuk Judgment
The Vnuk court case came to our attention about 6 months ago and we commenced collecting information on the 2014 decision of the Court of Justice of the European Union in relation to the “Vnuk judgment” and its possible effects on proposed changes to motor vehicle use and motor insurance within the European Union. Recently the topic has been stirred up by movement within the UK Government through its public consultation, along with a joint statement by the Motorcycle Industry Association (MCIA), the Amateur Motor Cycle Association (AMCA) and the Auto-Cycle Union … [Read more...]
Bike Theft Epidemic – Protest
United Kingdom - Biker & Bike - UK Motorcycle Theft Protest Group - There is a bike theft epidemic happening in the UK’s larger cities that, outside of biking circles, is little known about. Any challenges about the ability of ABS not to stop in corners, on loose road surfaces while keeping the rider upright, has faded away as practical and “paper” research debunks any dissent, putting forward evidence that ABS saves riders lives. As ABS moves technically forward, linked to more advanced electronics and other handling systems, some … [Read more...]

ABS For Motorcycles – Do They Matter?
Advanced Braking Systems (ABS) For Motorcycles - Do They Matter? - In 2015, we (that's Trevor and myself as Right To Ride) wrote an article about mandatory braking systems which were to be introduced from 2016 – i.e. new motorcycles of more than 125 cc equipped with an enhanced ABS (Anti-lock Braking System), whereas the incorporation of anti-lock or combined brake systems for motorcycles under 125 cc would be left to the choice of the vehicle manufacturer (for the time being anyway). In 2011 the European Commission and Parliament argued that ABS would reduce casualties by … [Read more...]
